Every cop I have ever worked with takes that very seriously, even if they disagree with the law. Their job is to enforce the law - including the stupid ones like you mentioned. Cops pull over other cops and give them speeding tickets. Those people tend to get weeded out very quickly in the academy.Ī department will suspend and prosecute a cop if they have proof they are breaking the law. Very few cops are jackasses who are in it for the power trip. I can't speak for literally every department in the US, but I can speak of the greater Texas area where I worked. You got this bro, you just need to start now. And as a heads up the tests are basically akin to IQ/ SAT tests in terms of structure for like the first parts, then like second or third part are personal background information questions/ work relations questions, and to maximize points there you just need to be completely honest as they're looking for consistency in your answers to see if your answers are true and thus being honest, which is what they look for since they don't want to hire anyone even possibly corrupt. Especially since most police agencies have a maximum age of like 35 on average as the cut off age.

Listen bro as long as you can do what their minimums are to get in they're you're good and you can only improve yourself there especially if you have that mentality of you wanting to be a good person as motivator then you can be a cop within the next 1-5~ years easy as long as you keep taking tests. I recently had a friend who just took some random rural-ish small city test and did okay but still got a call rather fast and right now hes going through the academy in what happened to be just a few months time span ago. Now if you're out in the more rural areas (away from New York city tri-state area basically anyway lol) their tests are even easier and less competitive bro. If anything I just need to be fit more for the physicals for any of them and of (what i assume i am anyway) normal mental heath status for the background checks. Hopefully i do great on the upcoming Suffolk test next month cause its probably one of the most best, and most competitive police jobs there are, and its test is only hosted every 4 years like Nassau (which is like in second place) and state trooper. However i suspect that by the end of this year i should be finally getting called by either Troopers or NYPD and ill take whoever calls first but would defer to Trooper if they call second because they're better.

I myself even did pretty good on them with high 80's and low 90's which gave me confidence in myself and made me realize i don't have much to worry about test wise, but due to them being the NY state trooper test, NYPD, Suffolk county, and Nassau county tests they're all super high competitive so its been taking a few years now of waiting for the list to reach my number. Now im almost turning 23 and im feeling like i should have started earlier so yes i recommend you take some as soon as they open now. i don't know really? Fear? But now ive been taking them and you should too asap bro. I actually missed a few tests i had to wait until about now for them to reopen cause i missed them back when i was just became eligible and didn't take them out of. Bro, ive been wanting to be a cop for the past 10 years now and only 2 years ago did i start taking the tests for them.
